U-18 Team Manitoba ready for Nationals, Dufault captain
WINNIPEG – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to release the 2011 U-18 Team Manitoba roster and captains which will compete at the National U-18 Women’s Championships from November 2-6th in Saguenay, Que. This season’s U-18 Team Manitoba roster features seven returning players from last season mixed with thirteen fresh faces comprising the roster of two goalies, seven defence, and eleven forwards.
Meghan Dufault (Winnipeg) returns for her unprecedented fourth selection to the U-18 provincial team and has been named team captain. Joining Dufault for the on-ice leadership group as assistant captains is third year player Skye Kelly (Brandon) and second year player Halli Krzyzaniak (Neepawa). Team Manitoba also includes the three Manitoban players that were selected to the U-18 Team Canada exhibition roster in August, being Meghan Dufault (Winnipeg), Halli Krzyzaniak (Neepawa), Ashleigh Brykaliuk (Brandon).
Team Manitoba will compete in a strong pool at the event which will see the powerhouse Team Ontario-Red who have won 5 straight U-18 National Championships and will also include Team Alberta who were last season’s Canada Winter Games champions. To finish the round-robin competition Team Manitoba will face British Columbia, the top two teams from each pool will earn a berth into the semi-finals on November 5th followed by the medal games on November 6th. All games will take place at the Centre Georges-Vézina in Saguenay.
