Female U18 Team Manitoba defeated the University of Manitoba Bisons (Women) 2 games to 1 in a 3 game exhibition series hosted by the Bisons over the weekend (September 18-20). Team Manitoba earned the inaugural Canad Inns Prairie Cup which was donated by Hockey Manitoba for the victor of the series in an effort to establish a new female hockey tradition and friendly rivalry between the teams.

Team Manitoba took game 1 on Friday afternoon with a 5-4 win. However on Saturday the Bisons bounced back with a 4-2 win over the U18’s. The deciding game 3 was played on Sunday afternoon and saw Team Manitoba come out with a hard fought 2-1 victory in an intense match up.

Hockey Manitoba and the Bisons Women’s hockey team will continue with the Canad Inns Prairie Cup again next season. Also, both parties will work together to entertain the idea of attracting other prominent women’s hockey teams from neighbouring provinces/states.
