After a classic championship series against their crosstown rivals, the Winnipeg Wild are now 2013 Midget AAA Provincial Champions and will be heading back to the TELUS Cup Regional qualifier. The Wild defeated the Winnipeg Thrashers 3-1 in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League championship to win their second straight league/provincial title.

The epic series saw all four games decided by one goal, with three of the four games decided in overtime; game four won in double-overtime. Wild rookie Jackson Keane netted the series winner at 19:07 of the second OT to send the Wild back to the TELUS Cup regionals. The 2013 West Region qualifier will be hosted in Kenora, ON and will feature branch champion teams from Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, Saskatchewan, and a host club. The winner of the regional qualifier will advance to the TELUS Cup – Midget National Championship held April 22-28 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
