WINNIPEG WILD WIN MIDGET AAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

In a 5-4 double overtime win against the Eastman Selects, the Winnipeg Wild won their third straight Manitoba AAA Provincial Midget title and their fifth in 10 seasons. The Wild now move on to the TELUS Cup – West Region Qualifier tournament in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan from April 3-6 to compete for a spot in the 2014 TELUS Cup in Moose Jaw, SK.

After the Selects took the lead at 4-3 with just over five minutes remaining in the third, Winnipeg tied the game with 41 seconds left to send the game into overtime. It took until the second overtime period with 5:43 remaining for the Wild’s Dawson Martin to score the winning goal. Winnipeg won the series three games to one.
