Hockey Manitoba thanks Ferdi Nelissen for serving as Female U18 POE Scout for five seasons
Over the past five seasons, Ferdi Nelissen has scouted hundreds of games for Hockey Manitoba’s Female Under-18 Program of Excellence.
Nelissen, currently the Director of Minor Hockey for the Central Plains Region, was a member of the Ad-hoc Committee that founded the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League (MFHL) in 2008 and has been involved with the league in some capacity for its entire 16 year history.
Nelissen coached the Female U18 AAA Central Plains Capitals for 13 years, winning the league championship and attending the 2015 Esso Cup prior to scouting for the Program of Excellence. He was also a member of U18 Team Manitoba’s coaching staff in 2013.
Nelissen coached the Female U15 AAA Central Plains Capitals for the past two seasons, while still scouting U18 AAA hockey. This year, he is moving back to the Female U18 AAA Central Plains Capitals to be their Head Coach for the 2024-25 season.
Nelissen has been involved with youth hockey for 28 years (Portage Minor Hockey/Central Plains Region) where he has held Vice-President and President positions with Portage Minor. He was the Vice-Director of Female Hockey for the Central Plains Region for 15 years before taking on the position of Director of Minor Hockey for the past four seasons. Ferdi also assists with skills camps within the Central Plains region and breakfast programs in Portage la Prairie.
We would like to thank Ferdi for his five years of service with the Female U18 Program of Excellence and we wish him the best of luck with the U18 AAA Central Plains Capitals for the 2024 – 2025 season.
