COACHING DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
In conjunction with the “SUPER CLINIC” Hockey Manitoba will be offering the following clinics to assist coaches who have already received their certification in further developing their coaching skills…
The National Coach Mentorship Program clinics will focus on teaching skill development. Each session will involve a classroom component where coaches will discuss the topic and will receive a practical drill package that will assist them throughout the year.
SKATING BASICS – Oct. 28 – 10:00 am Classroom, 11:45 – 12:45 ice session
This session will aid coaches who wish to teach skating basics to their teams. Coaches will have a classroom session with discussion in skating fundamentals followed by and ice session of practice drills.
DEVELOPING SKILLED DEFENSEMEN – Oct. 28 – 2:00 pm Classroom, 3:30 – 5:00 ice session
This session will focus on the skills needed to play defense. The emphasis will be on fundamentals and drills that will assists coaches in developing this position.
COMPETITIVE GAMES FOR EFFICIENT PRACTICES – Oct. 29 10:00 am, Classroom 11:45 – 12:45 ice session
This session will help coaches design activities to make the most of their practices. We will look at small area games as a way to teach tactics, condition athletes and make drills competitive and fun for the players.
BASIC GOALTENDING FOR COACHES – Oct. 29 2:00 pm Classroom, 3:30 – 5:00 ice session
This session will focus on basic movements and how coaches should use goaltenders during practice sessions.
