by Hockey Manitoba  |  October 4, 2007 12:12 pm

CALGARY – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency (CEMA), announced on Monday the introduction of EGGstreme Hockey Power Packs for the 2007-08 season, a tournament program for minor hockey associations across Canada.

Beginning in early October 2007, during Puck Drop ’07, the program will invite minor hockey associations to register their tournaments online for a chance to receive EGGstreme Hockey Power Packs, which include:

Ø 50 pucks

Ø 250 Thundersticks

Ø toques for tournament champions

Ø ball caps for tournament volunteers

Ø promotional posters

Ø EGGstreme Hockey water bottles for players

Ø a commemorative Hockey Canada National Team jersey for prizing

Ø other giveaways for hockey moms and dads

A minimum of 50 tournaments – in the Novice and Atom divisions – will be chosen to receive EGGstreme Hockey Power Packs for tournaments taking place during the 2007-08 season.

The deadline for minor hockey associations to register tournaments is November 15, 2007. Tournaments must be scheduled between January and April 2008.

Following the deadline, a selection committee comprised of Hockey Canada and CEMA representatives will choose at least 50 tournaments as the winning entries. Efforts will be made to spread the program across the country to allow the program to reach major regions and offer the opportunity to Hockey Canada’s branches. The winners will be announced in January 2008.

“This is a terrific opportunity for Hockey Canada and the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency to reach out to the grassroots level of hockey in our country,” says Scott Smith, Hockey Canada’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are thrilled about this partnership, and look forward to working on this program with CEMA.”

”The EGGstreme Hockey Power Pack program presents an ideal opportunity for us to reach Canadian hockey families,” commented Tim Lambert, CEMA’s Chief Executive Officer. “This program will allow us to promote the healthy lasting energy in eggs to hockey moms and dads. We thank Hockey Canada for working with us to design this new initiative and we look forward to providing tournament organizers across Canada with this exciting level of support for years to come”.

The Canadian Egg Marketing Agency (CEMA) represents farmers producing eggs on Canada’s 1070 regulated egg farms located in each province and the Northwest Territories. CEMA is dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious, and high quality eggs at reasonable prices to all Canadians.

Hockey Canada, in participation with its 13 Branches and thousands of minor hockey associations across the country, is celebrating the more than 550,000 players who take to the ice each season, along with the coaches, officials and administrators who shape the game, during Puck Drop ’07, the five-week kick-off to the 2007-08 hockey season. Each week during Puck Drop ’07 will be themed differently, celebrating unique aspects of the game. For more information, check out www.hockeycanada.ca/puckdrop07.
