New Coach and Team Officials Screening Policy in Effect September 1

On April 1, 2026 the Provincial Government of Manitoba passed the Protecting Youth in Sport Act, new legislation governing safe sport across Manitoba. Under this act, all Provincial Sport Organizations must have a screening policy that sets a minimum standard for screening coaches and team officials.

In conjunction with Sport Manitoba and Hockey Canada, Hockey Manitoba has approved a new Coach and Team Officials Screening Policy, effective September 1, 2026.

Under the policy, all coaches and team officials must complete a Screening Disclosure Form each season, and all coaches and team officials over the age of 18 must complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Vulnerable Sector Checks must be submitted to your registering body by December 1, 2026.

Full details, including the steps for completion, deadlines, and the complete policy, are available on the Coach and Team Officials Screening page: HERE
