by Hockey Manitoba  |  November 10, 2008 9:57 am

Team Manitoba defeated Team Ontario-Blue 3-1 to win the Bronze Medal Game. In a hard fought affair the game’s first goal wasn’t scored until near halfway into the second period when Christine Bestland put home a feed from Katie Wilson. Team Ontario-Blue tied the game soon after, but Manitoba was able to regain the lead when Brittany Hergesheimer shot one in from the point to make it 2-1.

The third period saw action in both ends but finally Manitoba put the game away when Katie Wilson scored from the slot with under 8 minutes to go. Tara Lacquette held the fort in the late going and Manitoba won it’s 2nd bronze medal in as many years.

Katie Wilson was named a game-star as she finished with 1 goal and 2 assists. Brigette Lacquette was named Top Defence of the Nationals for her stellar performance throughout the week. Team Ontario-Red defeated Team Quebec 2-1 in double overtime to capture yet another Gold Medal.

Hockey Manitoba would like to congratulate the entire team including the coaching staff for their success at this year’s championship.
