Hockey Manitoba is looking for experienced hockey individuals to join the Player Evaluator (Scout) Group, supporting player identification for the Program of Excellence Pathway: Gold Standard, the U15 Boys Preparation Program, the U16 Girls Preparation Program, the Women’s U18 POE and the Boys U16 POE.

Player Evaluators will be assigned to geographic regions and will attend games, tournaments and events throughout the season to observe and evaluate players, providing consistent and objective evaluations to Hockey Manitoba’s Player Development staff.

This is a volunteer position, with an honorarium provided in recognition of the time and commitment involved.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend assigned games, tournaments and events
• Observe and evaluate players using Hockey Manitoba’s evaluation process
• Complete evaluation reports within established timelines
• Communicate observations to Hockey Manitoba Player Development staff
• Participate in evaluator meetings, training and calibration sessions as required

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of hockey and player development
• Experience coaching, evaluating or working within competitive hockey
• Ability to objectively assess player skills, habits and overall performance
• Strong observation, communication and organizational skills
• Ability to recognize and manage personal bias
• Experience with Hockey Manitoba or Hockey Canada programming is an asset
