Hockey Manitoba would like to recognize and thank Nolan Gilmour for his service to the Hockey Manitoba Board of Directors and his contribution to the organization.

As Hockey Manitoba continues its transition to a governance-focused Board model, the organization is taking steps to strengthen Board capacity and establish a strong governance foundation heading toward the May 2027 Annual General Meeting.

Hockey Manitoba is inviting expressions of interest for three Board Director opportunities. The Board is particularly interested in candidates whose professional experience can complement the skills currently represented around the Board table.

Priority experience includes:

• Accounting / CPA expertise
• Legal expertise
• Human resources experience
• Policy development and writing

Candidates may bring expertise in one or more of these areas. Experience in governance, strategic oversight, risk, finance, organizational leadership or not-for-profit leadership will also be considered relevant.

About Board Service

Hockey Manitoba’s Board is a governance Board. It provides strategic direction, establishes policy, oversees financial stewardship and organizational risk, and holds the Chief Executive Officer accountable for organizational performance. The Board does not manage day-to-day programs or operations.

Directors serve Hockey Manitoba as a whole rather than representing a specific region, league, association, club or stakeholder group.

Board service requires active participation throughout the year, including in-person Board meetings approximately every two months, virtual or special meetings as required, active participation on one or more Board committees, preparation in advance of meetings, and participation in orientation, governance education and planning activities.

These are volunteer Board positions. Reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out approved Board duties are reimbursed in accordance with Hockey Manitoba policy.

Current Recruitment

Hockey Manitoba is seeking candidates for three Board Director opportunities as the organization strengthens Board capacity during its governance transition. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the Board’s work through the May 2027 AGM, with future Board composition continuing through Hockey Manitoba’s established nominations and AGM processes.

Candidates must meet the eligibility and independence requirements applicable to Directors under Hockey Manitoba’s governing documents and applicable legislation. Eligibility will be confirmed through the Nominations Committee process.
