Sport Manitoba Coaching and Officials is expanding its Female Mentorship Program to include officials this year, and female hockey officials are encouraged to take part.

The program pairs female officials with experienced female mentors, with the goal of increasing the number of confident and competent female officials in Manitoba and building lasting, supportive relationships within the officiating community.

Who Can Apply

Mentees must self-identify as female, be a registered official with a Provincial Sport Organization, and have at least one year of officiating experience.

How It Works

Each pair sets its own schedule and format. Meetings can be virtual or in person, once or twice a month, depending on what works best for the mentor and mentee.

Professional development is shaped by what participants want to work on. Topics may include handling gendered comments, advancing through the officiating ranks, and communicating with confidence in high-pressure moments.

Participants also join group sessions with officials from other sports, and the program wraps up with a networking event and shared meal.
