HARVEY NICHOL APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF OFFICIALS
Hockey Manitoba is pleased to introduce Harvey Nichol as the new Director of Officials, the volunteer head of the organization’s officiating program. Harvey replaces Grant Heather who served in the position from 2012-2014.
“It’s an honour to be appointed to the position of Director of Officials for Hockey Manitoba and I am pleased to offer my experience, expertise and support to all officials in the province to advance the game of hockey while providing opportunities to all involved,” said Nichol.
Nichol has been an active member of the Hockey Manitoba Officials program for nearly 35 years, beginning at the Midget AAA, Junior A, Junior B and Senior A levels in 1980. He served as a linesman in Brandon for the WHL from 1982-1988 and in Portage la Prairie for the Western Jr. B Championships 1983 and also as a referee for the Western Jr. B Championships in Gimli in 1989. Additionally, he has served as Referee-in-Chief of Central Plains region and as a member of the Hockey Manitoba Officials Development Committee as Chair of Regional Coordinators (Grassroots).
