TEAM MANITOBA CAPTAINS ANNOUNCED

WINNIPEG- Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the team captains for both U-16 male and U-18 female rosters who’ll lead their respective teams on ice at upcoming championship events.

Jett Woo (Winnipeg), currently playing with the Winnipeg Wild (MMHL) has been named captain of U-16 Team Manitoba. Jett is the only returnee to Team Manitoba as he travelled earlier this year as an underage player to Prince George, B.C. where he and Team Manitoba captured bronze at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. This past May he was selected in the 1st round selection (4th overall) by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. Also leading the U-16 team on ice as assistant captains will be Riley Stotts (Winnipeg) currently playing with the Winnipeg Wild (MMHL), Dawson Barteaux (Foxwarren) currently playing with the Yellowhead Chiefs (MMHL) and Koby Morrisseau (Grandview) currently playing with the Parkland Rangers (MMHL).

U-18 Team Manitoba has decided to go with 4 Assistant Captains this year for their leadership group. Jalyn Elmes (Brandon), currently playing with the Yellowhead Chiefs (MFMHL), Kayla Friesen (Winnipeg), currently playing with St. Mary’s Academy (Prep), and Ryleigh Houston (Winnipeg), currently playing with Balmoral Hall Blazers (Prep) will be competing for their 2nd time with U-18 Team Manitoba as they were all on the team last year that competed at the 2015 Canada Games in Prince George, B.C. Sheridan Oslwald (Macgregor), currently playing with the Central Plains Capitals (MFMHL), was also on the team last year that competed at the 2015 Canada Games but this will be her 3rd year with U-18 Team Manitoba as she competed at the age of 15 with the 2013-2014 team in Calgary, AB.

U-16 Team Manitoba will compete at the 2015 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup held October 27 – November 1,2015 in Calgary, AB. The Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup is a four team round-robin tournament and skills combine with Alberta, BC, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan serving as a major showcase for top WHL prospects and the Hockey Canada U-17 Program of Excellence. U-18 Team Manitoba will be competing at the 2015 U-18 National Championships November 4-8 in Huntsville, Ontario. This tournament includes eight (8) provincial and regional teams, including Alberta, Atlantic, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario Blue, Ontario Red, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
