CALGARY, AB. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Chris Driedger, of the Calgary Hitmen, has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

The 18 year-old goaltender from Winnipeg, MB, posted a 8-1-0-0 record through November. Driedger’s remarkable 1.87 goals-against average leads all WHL goaltenders (minimum 300 minutes played) while posting 0.935 save percentage, allowing just 17 goals on 263 shots-against in 545 minutes played, averaging 30 shots a game. His efforts also earned him a Three Star selection five times, with two being 1st Stars.

Driedger’s consistent play helped the Hitmen to a 10-2-0-0 record in November and currently sit second in the WHL Central Division with a 18-6-1-2 record for 39 points, just two shy of the Division leading Edmonton Oil Kings. Originally a 4th round selection by the Tri-City Americans in the 2009 WHL Draft, Driedgerjoined the Calgary Hitmen after one season with the Ams’ in 2010-11. The Ottawa Senators recently selected Driedger in the 3rd round of the 2012 NHL Draft.

His accomplishments make Chris Driedger a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
