MANITOBA OFFICIAL CHRISTINE DURHAM SELECTED TO WOMEN’S UNDER 18 CHALLENGE

by Hockey Manitoba  |  November 3, 2005 12:12 pm

It is with great pleasure that Hockey Manitoba announces that Christine Durham has been selected by Hockey Canada to represent Manitoba as a Linesman at the Women’s Under 18 Challenge Tournament Nov. 9 – 13, 2005 in Salmon Arm, BC.

Member of the Manitoba entry at the 2004-05 Esso Women’s Nationals, Christine became committed to officiating two years ago when she realized that there was a limited number of female officials within the Province. “I wanted young girls coming up in hockey to have a ref that understood the female game what it meant to “let them play”.

Christine has officiated from the Pee Wee age category up to the Canadian Inter-University Sport. She has participated in numerous Female Program of Excellence camps as well as the 2005 Female Bantam Challenge. Christine, along with fellow female officials Sabrina Lauzon and Brandy Ross, represented our Branch at the Hockey Canada Western Development Camp this past July in Calgary for female officials. She experienced her first CIS Headman game in the Lady Bison’s Pre-season tournament at the University of Manitoba. Christine’s most memorable and rewarding experience so far was when she reffed the home opener for the U of M Lady Bison’s against the BC Thunderbirds on October 21.

Good Luck in Salmon Arm Christine!!
