Manitoba goaltender named to Canada’s National Junior Team

Hockey Manitoba would like to congratulate Chet Pickard (Winnipeg) on being named to Team Canada who’ll compete at the 2009 World Junior Championships in Ottawa, ON. Pickard is currently in his fourth season between the pipes with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Before the WHL, Pickard played for the Winnipeg Monarchs (AAA). In the 2008 NHL Entry Draft,Chet was drafted in the first round (18th overall) by the Nashville Predators.

In related news Chet’s younger brother Calvin, also a goaltender, was previously named to the 2009 Team West roster and will compete at the 2009 World U-17 Hockey Challenge beginning later this month.
