Coordinator, Player Development appointed

WINNIPEG – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the appointment of Mathew Relf as the Coordinator, Player Development effective February 20, 2024.

After playing two seasons for the HTJHL’s Springfield Xtreme, Mathew began his post-playing career as a member of the support staff for the University of Manitoba Bison Women’s hockey team. Mathew served as the team’s Head Equipment Manager for three seasons.

Mathew has also worked on the equipment side with the Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets from 2020 to 2022. He was also named the Head Equipment Manager for Team Canada’s Female Hockey Team for the 2022 Winter FISU World University games.

Mathew joins Hockey Manitoba’s staff after two years at RINK Training Centre as the Retail Coordinator and Equipment Manager, where he was responsible for the production of the R1 Pro, Junior, and Female College groups.

Mathew first joined Hockey Manitoba as the Equipment Manager in 2020 for the U18 Team Manitoba Female POE Program and again with the U16 Team Manitoba Male POE Support Staff, helping Team Manitoba win gold at the 2023 WHL Cup in Red Deer, Alberta.

Mathew has a passion for the development of young athletes and looks forward to working with the next generation of female hockey players in Manitoba.

Mathew will be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of player development for the organization, overseeing the operational and administrative functions of the association under the supervision of the Director, Development. Mathew can be reached at mrelf@hockeymanitoba.ca.
