Volunteer Opportunity – Equipment Manager
EQUIPMENT MANAGER
2027 Canada Winter Games
Hockey Manitoba is seeking two organized, reliable, and experienced Equipment Managers to join the Team Manitoba Hockey staffs for the 2027 Canada Winter Games.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Hockey Manitoba will select one Equipment Manager for each of the following programs:
- Women’s U18 Team Manitoba
- Boys U16 Team Manitoba
Each Equipment Manager will work directly with their assigned team throughout the preparation period and Canada Games. The Equipment Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with the assigned Team Manager, coaching staff, medical staff, and athletes to support the team’s equipment and operational needs. Program commitments and dates will vary depending on the team you are selected to support.
The Equipment Manager will be responsible for the preparation, organization, maintenance, and management of team equipment throughout the Canada Games program. The successful candidate will work closely with the coaching staff, team manager, medical staff, and athletes to support the team throughout its preparation and competition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain all team hockey equipment and inventory.
- Prepare and organize equipment for practices, games, camps, and travel.
- Manage dressing room setup, organization, and equipment distribution.
- Complete skate sharpening, minor equipment repairs, and equipment adjustments
- Coordinate the transportation, packing, and inventory of team equipment.
- Identify and communicate equipment needs, repairs, and replacements.
- Assist athletes with equipment-related needs and troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dressing room and equipment area.
- Work collaboratively with all team staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Assist with other team responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a hockey Equipment Manager, Trainer, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of hockey equipment and maintenance.
- Experience with skate sharpening and minor equipment repairs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience with high-performance or representative hockey is considered an asset.
PROGRAM COMMITMENT
The successful candidates must be available to participate in required team activities leading into and throughout the 2027 Canada Winter Games, including camps, team meetings, equipment preparation, travel, practices, games, and other team activities.
Women’s U18 Team Manitoba
The Equipment Manager selected for the Women’s U18 program must be available for the following dates:

COMPENSATION
An honorarium will be provided for the successful candidate. Details regarding compensation, travel, accommodation, meals, and other team-related expenses will be provided as part of the selection process.
