Hockey Manitoba extends our congratulations to the Norway House Bruins on winning the 2026 Fred Sasakamoose ‘Chief Thunderstick’ National Championship! The Bruins secured the prestigious national title on “Super Sunday” by defeating the Red Pheasant Snipers with a final score of 5–3 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan this past weekend.

“ We are full of pride in our Norway House Cree Nation Bruins for winning the Championship at the Fred Saskamoose National Championship in hard fought , gritty win. Hockey plays an important role in the identity and fabric of our community and brings our young women , men and children together in positive , meaningful ways. It creates a larger sense of community and competition with our other Northern Communities and unites us all at the arenas , coffee shop, and on the highways as we go to participate , compete , and practice.
