RAIDERS WIN BACK TO BACK MMJHL CHAMPIONSHIPS
WINNIPEG – Hockey Manitoba would like to congratulate the Raiders Jr. Hockey Club on winning the 2017-2018 MMJHL Championship. The Raiders defeated the Transcona Railer Express Tuesday night at home (Seven Oaks SportsPlex) by a score of 8-2 to win their 2nd consecutive Jack McKenzie Trophy.
The Raiders went into MMJHL Playoffs as the #1 seed finishing the regular season with a record of 37-3-5 (79 points). They would go on to win their quarter-final series 4-0 over the #8 seed St. Boniface Riels before defeating the #5 Stonewall Jets in their semi-final series 4-1.
The Transcona Railer Express finished the regular season as the #3 seed with a record of 29-11-5 (63 points). Transcona would win their quarter-final match up over the #6 seeded St. Vital Victorias 4-1 before taking on the #2 seeded Charleswood Hawks in the semi-finals. The Railer Express would find themselves down 2-1 before winning three straight to take the series 4-2.
In the final series the Raiders lost game one but quickly recovered to win four straight games to hoist the 2017-2018 MMJHL Championship.
With this win the Raiders Jr. Hockey Club now have four (4) Jack McKenzie Trophies since the Inaugural 1970-1971 season. Jack McKenzie was a League Founder & Inaugural President from 1970-1976.
