Roster announced for 2010 U-16 Summer Evaluation Camp

Winnipeg, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the names of the 2010 U-16 Program of Excellence/Canada Games Summer Evaluation Camp roster. Forty (40) male players born in 1995 plus injury exemptions have been selected to attend the P.O.E. Summer Camp taking place in Brandon, MB, June 17-20, 2010.

The Summer Camp is the third phase of the P.O.E./Canada Games process. Players began the process with Regional Selection Camps in February, followed by the P.O.E. Spring Tournament in April where 136 players competed for a shot at moving on to the Summer Evaluation Camp.The forty named players will be evaluated at the Summer Camp as well as the start of the 2010–11 hockey season from which twenty will be selected to form Team Manitoba and compete at the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 12 – February 18, 2011.

Team Manitoba is coming off of Silver medal performances from the last Canada Games in Whitehorse and look to build on their recent success.The Head Coach of Team Manitoba is Troy Leslie (Melita), who is the Head Coach of the Southwest Cougars of the MMHL (Midget AAA). Troy’s Assistant Coaches are Blaine Boyle (Portage la Prairie) and Royce Manary (Winnipeg).

In the coming week Hockey Manitoba will respectively announce the U-17 (Male) and U-18 (Female) Summer Evaluation Camp rosters.
