WORLD WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Hockey Manitoba, in conjunction with the World Women’s Hockey Championships and Hockey Canada is proud to announce a number of development opportunities surrounding the World Women’s Hockey Championships.

MacDonald’s In the Lineup

For all games during the 2007 World Women’s Hockey Championships, Hockey Canada and McDonald’s Restaurants are pleased to announce a new community program — McDonald’s® in The Line Up™ — which will feature two female minor hockey players between the ages of 7 – 12 on the ice in full equipment at all tournament games, including the bronze and gold medal finals.

The two lucky minor hockey players will lead the teams onto the ice surface prior to the start of the game, holding flags of the respective competitors. The McDonald’s in The Line Up players will remain on the ice until the start of the game. The players will then depart the ice surface, change, and join their parent/guardian in complimentary seats provided by McDonald’s to enjoy the game.

This opportunity is available to registered female Hockey Manitoba members born between 1994 and 1999. Winners will be selected randomly from all registered participants.

Please note that selected winners must provide a head shot photo and be able to travel to and from the MTS Centre at their own expense.

Domino’s Skills Challenge

The Domino’s Skills Challenge is a series of 4 individual tests taken from the National Skills Standards and Testing program. The Skills Challenge gives players the opportunity to test their skating, shooting and stick handling skills against other players.

All events are Friday, April 6th at the Max Bell Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB.

9:00 am – 10:00 am Female Atom
10:15 am – 11:15 am Female Pee Wee
11:30 am – 12:30 pm Female Bantam
12:45 pm – 1: 45 pm Female Midget

Categories are limited to 40 participants and finalists will have the opportunity to participate between periods at a World Women’s Hockey Championship game. Registration is free.

Esso Fun Days

Esso Fun Days are a Free Introduction to the Basic Skills of Hockey in an all-female environment. The program is open to any individuals who are not currently registered in hockey.

Hockey Manitoba will be offering two Esso Fun Day sessions. One for adults and one for youth.

Both sessions will take place on Friday, April 6th at the Max Bell Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg from 2:45 PM – 5:30 PM.

The adult and youth sessions will be separate. There will be one-hour of on-ice instruction and one hour of off-ice instruction for each group. Registration is free. Participants must supply their own equipment and it is recommended that they borrow equipment from a friend for the day.

Skate with the Champions

This is an opportunity for individuals to skate with members of Canada’s 1990 inaugural Women’s World Championship team.

The event will take place from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 7th at the Max Bell Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB.

Please note that pre-registration is mandatory and that registration is free. Please note that helmets and mitts are required.

Female Official Development Seminar

This opportunity is open to any current Level I, II, or III officials. The seminar will discuss options officiating opportunities available as well as focus on official development. Officials will also have an opportunity to attend a Women’s World Championship game.

The Seminar takes place Saturday, April 7th at the Max Bell Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Registration is free.

Senior Female Skill Development Camp

This will be a Skill Development Camp open to all registered female players over the age of 18 including individuals playing both Junior and Senior Women’s hockey.. The event will take place at the Saturday, April 7th at the Max Bell Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

The day will consist of ? hours of on-ice instruction and ? hours of off-ice instruction.

Registration is free and pre-registration is mandatory.
