WINNIPEG, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to release the roster for the 2023 Male Under-16 Program of Excellence Summer Development Camp which will be held from July 19 – 22, 2023 at Seven Oaks Arena in Winnipeg.  This camp will be the third phase of the Hockey Manitoba Male U16 Program of Excellence (POE) which is the provincial high performance development and selection program that leads to the formation of U16 Team Manitoba.

On the ice, the intensive nature of the Summer Camp will include practices and games, as well as team meetings and team building events.  The camp is part of the MJHL Showcase with games taking place from Thursday to Saturday. Players will also work on technical and tactical plans throughout the duration of the camp.

The fourth phase of the Hockey Manitoba Male U16 Program of Excellence will take place on Sunday October 1st when U16 Team Manitoba will compete in a pre-championship exhibition game against the Winnipeg Wild U18 AAA at hockey for all centre. The fifth and final phase of the Male U16 POE will see the U16 Team Manitoba roster compete at the 2023 WHL Cup which is scheduled to take place from October 17 – 22 in Red Deer, Alberta.

The U16 POE Summer Evaluation Camp will see a total of twenty (20) players invited, comprised of twelve (12) forwards, six (6) defencemen, and two (2) goaltenders.

The Male U16 Program of Excellence is the first step in the Hockey Canada Male Program of Excellence. Athletes who participate in the U16 POE begin to receive the exposure to skills and concepts that are vital for success at the Major Junior, NCAA, USport and National levels. Many athletes from the U16 Program of Excellence go on to success with the U17, U18 and World Junior Teams as a part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to recognize CCM Hockey and the Western Hockey League as Official Partners of the Program of Excellence. The POE is our high performance program that offers developing athletes who are on track to be elite with the opportunity to represent their province while providing a solid development path to the National and International stages.
