It is with great sadness that Hockey Manitoba announces the passing of George Ulyatt.

George is a Hockey Manitoba Honourary Life Member and served as Hockey Manitoba President from 1995 – 2001.

George contributed in so many ways to the growth, delivery and administration of hockey in our province and was a leader and a role model for countless volunteers.

George’s involvement with Hockey Manitoba spanned for over 30 years, holding roles in all levels of administration, including Vice President, Chair of Junior and Hockey Canada Board Member (1995-2001). George played a key role in acquiring and hosting the 1992 Centennial Cup and the 1999 World Junior Championship in Winnipeg.

He sat on several National Committees including the Chair of Risk and Safety in 2002 and 2003, a member of the Governance Committee, Constitution and By-laws and a member of the Marketing Committee.

George was awarded the Hockey Canada Order of Merit in 2006.

George was General Manager of the MJHL’s Winnipeg South Blues from 1981 to 1997 and was passionate about growing the junior game in our province.

George will be dearly missed by the entire hockey community, and Hockey Manitoba would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Ulyatt family.

Funeral services are pending.
