PATS’ BROOKS NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 3rd, 2016.
Brooks recorded 10 points (2g-8a) to go along with a plus-7 rating in four games to lead the Regina Pats to a record of 2-1-0-1 for the week.
On Tuesday, December 29th against the Saskatoon Blades, Brooks notched three points (1g-2a) and a plus-2 rating to claim first star honours in their 3-1 victory. The following night against the Prince Albert Raiders, Brooks recorded his second consecutive three-point game with three assists in the Pats 6-5 shootout loss. On Friday, January 1st against the Swift Current Broncos, Brooks scored the overtime winner to guide the Pats to a 4-3 win. Brooks also tallied two assists for his third straight three-point effort and was named the game’s first star. On Sunday January 3rd, Brooks capped off the week with an assist against the Prince Albert Raiders as Regina fell by a score of 7-3.
The 19-year-old Winnipeg, MB native has collected 60 points (21g-39a) in 40 games this season to sit second overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-10, 175 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Regina and has amassed 145 points (59g-86a) in 219 career WHL regular season contests.
The WHL has also nominated Carter Hart of the Everett Silvertips for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Hart, a 1998-born netminder from Sherwood Park, AB posted a record of 2-0-0-0 with a 0.98 goals against average and a .951 save percentage. On Wednesday, December 30th, Hart turned aside 24 shots to claim second star honours as the Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets by a score of 2-1. On Friday, January 1st, Hart stopped 15 shots to lift the Silvertips to their second straight victory over the Kelowna Rockets. Currently in his second season with Everett, Hart has posted a 39-17-2-6 record with 10 shutouts in 66 career WHL regular season appearances.
