WINNIPEG, MB- Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce that registration has opened for the 2014 Hockey Manitoba Cup presented by Budweiser held April 17-19 in Winnipeg. The Hockey Manitoba Cup – Adult Rec Provincials has grown from hosting 24 teams in 2010 to nearly 70 teams in 2014, becoming a staple of recreational hockey in Manitoba. “The Cup”, as it’s become popularly known, sees teams from all corners of the province from as far as Boissevain, Churchill, Flin Flon and Thompson along with teams from Winnipeg and surrounding areas.  Introduced in 2013, the 2014 event will again include the Hockey Manitoba Sr. A Provincials featuring champions from the province’s five Sr. A leagues and one wildcard team.

The fifth annual 2014 Hockey Manitoba Cup presented by Budweiser officially runs from Thursday, April 17 – Sunday, April 19 during the Easter holiday weekend.  Local teams from Winnipeg or surrounding areas will kick off the tournament with a handful of games during the evenings of April 15th and 16th.  The 2014 event will host nine recreational divisions (1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5A, 5B, Women’s A, Women’s B) plus the Sr. A division with MTS Iceplex as the primary host.

The Hockey Manitoba Cup offers an unrivalled experience to all participants unlike any other adult recreational tournament in the country, featuring promotions such as the Budweiser Team Party, Tavern United Team Headquarters and new in 2014, the opportunity for teams to be treated like a professional hockey club. Competing teams can win one of four Pro Team Experiences, where they will be provided with a coach, an equipment manager, sponsored jerseys, matching socks, skate sharpening, towel service, water bottles, a snack table, video sessions and Gatorade.

Entry fee per team is a total of $679 + GST with all teams are guaranteed three games each.  Teams are able to pay a deposit of $100 upfront at the time of registration to hold their spot in the tournament with the remaining entry fee balance due by March 31st.  It is anticipated that, as in previous seasons, the 2014 Hockey Manitoba Cup presented by Budweiser will fill up quickly far before the deadline of March 31st.  Interested teams are encouraged to visit the Hockey Manitoba Cup page for the 2014 rules package, online registration and payment (credit card only).
