WINNIPEG, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the leadership group for U-18 Team Manitoba for the upcoming National Women’s U-18 Championship in Morden and Winkler. McKiya Mazur (Angusville, MB) will serve as Team Captain while Kylie Lesuk (Oakbank, MB) and Danica Namaka (Winnipeg, MB) will serve as Assistant Captains.

McKiya Mazur is currently playing with the Rink Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sport School Varsity League where she serves as a team captain. This will be McKiya’s second year competing with Team MB in a National event as she participated in the Canada Winter Games last year in Red Deer, Alberta.

Kylie Lesuk is currently playing with Eastman Selects AAA in the MFMHL where she serves as team captain. This will also be Kylie’s 2nd year competing with Team MB in a National event as she participated in the Canada Winter Games last year in Red Deer, Alberta. Kylie also attended the Team Canada Under-18 selection camp in the Summer of 2019 and was the only athlete from Manitoba who attended the camp.

Danica Namaka is currently playing with the Rink Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. This will also be Danica’s 2nd year competing with Team MB in a National event as she participated in the Canada Winter Games last year in Red Deer, Alberta.

“Team Manitoba is very fortunate to have a leader like McKiya, who has valuable experience from playing in the Canada Games in Red Deer in 2019,” said Team Manitoba Head Coach Rob Voth. “All our players are leaders in their own way, on and off the ice.  As a coaching staff we have selected three players who we feel will provide that strong leadership needed in a tournament of this caliber. McKiya has a very strong work ethic every shift to go along with her easy going nature. Danica and Kylie also with their experience at Canada Games will lead by example with their skill, determination and their understanding of team tactics and concepts.”
