TWO HOCKEY MB OFFICIALS HEADING TO OPOE
WINNIPEG, MB – Two Hockey Manitoba officials have been selected by Hockey Canada to attend the Officiating Program of Excellence (OPOE) West Regional Camp in Richmond, BC from September 30 – October 2, 2016.
The OPOE is designed as an officiating talent identification and training program for elite officiating prospects, extending beyond Branch officiating development. The OPOE is a partnership, which includes Hockey Canada and its Member Branches, the National Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League. All partners bring together resources in order to foster a rewarding development opportunity for officials identified and trained in the OPOE.
Selected to attend the 2016 Western OPOE are:
Nolan Powell (Referee), Winnipeg – Nolan is a Level III official who has experience refereeing and lining in the MSHL, WWJHL, MMJHL, Midget AA & AAA leagues and Bantam AA & AAA leagues. Some highlights for Nolan include officiating at Director’s Cup, POE Selection camps, Female World Sport School Challenge, Western Canad Bantam Championship, multiple all-star games, league playoffs and provincials.
Wyatt Rapsky (Linesman), Yellowhead – Wyatt is a Level IV official and has experience refereeing and lining in the MJHL, KJHL, Bantam and Midget AAA Leagues (Female and Male) and in multiple Senior Hockey Leagues. Some highlights for Wyatt include officiating at Director’s Cup, numerous league playoffs and provincials. He hopes to one day officiate in the WHL and in national competitions.
