High performance nutrition begins with the selections you make at the supermarket. But with all the food products available, it’s easy to get confused. Shopping for Performance is a two-part workshop geared towards athletes living on their own and responsible for purchasing their own food. This two hour workshop consists of:


Tuesday, June 15th

Rm. 138 Frank Kennedy Centre, UM

6:00pm

Part 1: A Nutrition Labelling Session

Topics will include:

–Understanding food/nutrition labels.

–Preparing a grocery list.

–Shopping on a budget.

–A general orientation to the supermarket.

–Food safety guidelines and tips.


Participants are asked to bring a calculator with them to the session.

(Note: interested individuals may attend Part 1 without planning to attend Part 2).

Tuesday, June 22nd

Sobeys, Kenaston and McGillivray

6:30pm

Part 2: An In-store Supermarket Tour

The tour will focus on:

–Navigating the supermarket aisles for quality food items.

–Taking advantage of store bargains.

–Being efficient with your shopping time.

–Avoiding pitfalls such as impulse buying and over-spending.

(Note: The supermarket tour is limited to 9 participants. Participants must first attend Part 1 before attending Part 2).

Dryland Strength and Conditioning Training for Skating Athletes with Jeff Wood
(i.e. ringette, hockey speed skating, inline skating, figure skating)
