Coordinator, Coach Development appointed

WINNIPEG – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Holben as the Coordinator, Coach Development effective February 5, 2024.

After playing two seasons in net for the MMJHL’s Transcona Railer Express, Nick began his post-playing career as a Goalie Coach at The RINK Goalie Training Institute, where he worked with goaltenders of all ages and skill levels. Nick also worked with the AAA Winnipeg Sharks and AA Winnipeg East Railcats as a Goalie Coach/Assistant Coach.

Nick is currently in his second year as the Head Coach of the St. Johns Ravenscourt Boys High School Hockey team, leading the team to the Finals in 2022.

Nick joined Evolution Hockey as a Skills Coach in 2022 to further develop his coaching abilities on the player development side and in 2023, he joined the U16 Team Manitoba Male POE Coaching Staff as a Video Coordinator, helping Team Manitoba win gold at the 2023 WHL Cup in Red Deer, Alberta.

This past December, Nick served as an Assistant Coach with the Winnipeg Blues in the MJHL while Head Coach/General Manager Alex Mandolidis was with Team Canada West at the 2023 World Junior A Hockey Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Nick has a passion for hockey, particularly in coaching, and has served in various roles during his career. Nick looks forward to supporting coaches at all levels of hockey and aims to make a positive impact on the game of hockey. His initial responsibilities will involve providing administrative leadership and overseeing the coaching program for Hockey Manitoba’s ten (10) regions.  Nick can be reached at nholben@hockeymanitoba.ca.
