WINNIPEG, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to release the roster for the 2022 Male Under-16 Program of Excellence Top-40 Camp which will be held from May 5-8, 2022 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.  This camp will be the second phase of the Hockey Manitoba Male U16 Program of Excellence (POE) which is the provincial high performance development and selection program that leads to the formation of U16 Team Manitoba.

The final U16 Team Manitoba roster will compete at the 2023 Canada Winter Games which is scheduled to take place from February 18th to February 26th, 2023, in Prince Edward Island.

The U16 POE Top-40 Camp will see a total of forty-one (41) players invited, comprised of twenty-four (24) forwards, twelve (12) defencemen, and five (5) goaltenders.

On the ice, the intensive nature of the Top-40 Camp will include group practice sessions, two Hockey Canada skills assessments, and three intra-squad games.  The camp also features a number of important development items off the ice featuring mental skills coaching, team building, as well as leadership and character identification.

The Male U16 Program of Excellence is the first step in the Hockey Canada Male Program of Excellence. Athletes who participate in the U16 POE begin to receive the exposure to skills and concepts that are vital for success at the Major Junior, NCAA, USport and National levels. Many athletes from the U16 Program of Excellence go on to success with the U17, U18 and World Junior Teams as a part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to recognize Canad Inns, CCM Hockey and the Western Hockey League as Official Partners of the Program of Excellence, along with Gatorade as the Official Sport Drink of Hockey Manitoba. The POE is our high performance program that offers developing athletes who are on track to be elite with the opportunity to represent their province while providing a solid development path to the National and International stages.
