Hockey Manitoba Remembers Gladwyn Scott

Hockey Manitoba is saddened to report the passing of former Hockey Manitoba President Gladwyn Scott on August 25, 2022. He was 90 years old.

From Hamiota, Manitoba, Gladwyn was a prominent figure in both hockey and baseball for over five decades.  He served as President of Hockey Manitoba for one season in 1989-90 and was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003.

Gladwyn began his hockey career as a player and in 1951-52 turned to coaching in rural Manitoba until 1985-86. He served as the President of the South West Hockey League as well as the President of the South Interlake Hockey League.

Gladwyn was the founder of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008. He had a lasting impact on sport in Manitoba and helped establish the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association in 1962.

Gladwyn is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marguerite and their four children, Michelle (Brent) McMillan, Jeff, Rick, and Sharla (Will), grandchildren, Josh and Camryn McMillan, Brooke and Graeme Scott.

A service to celebrate Gladwyn’s life will be held at the Carberry Community Hall, Carberry, MB on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00pm followed by fellowship and refreshments.
