Sara Manness (La Salle) was named Tournament MVP at the 2023 National Women’s Under-18 Championship in Dawson Creek, British Columbia on Saturday night.

Manness, 16, registered five goals and four assists in five games for Team Manitoba, which was tied for the tournament lead in scoring, a truly impressive feat considering that she played one less game than other players in the tournament.

Manness scored Team Manitoba’s first goal in a 2-1 win over Team Atlantic on Friday to claim seventh place overall in the tournament. She scored a goal and added two assists in Thursday’s 7-4 quarterfinal loss to Team Quebec.

Manesss will now go to back to playing for the U22 Burlington Jr. Barracudas in the Ontario Women’s Hockey League where she has put up a remarkable 13 goals and 26 points in only nine games. She has already committed to play her NCAA hockey for the University of Minnesota, beginning in the 2025-2026 season.
