TORONTO, ON – Team Canada will take on Finland Tuesday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto in the championship game of the World Cup of Hockey 2004.

Team Canada will be the home team after winning the coin toss on Sunday afternoon at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, as per World Cup of Hockey rules.

In a battle of the number one seeds, the North American Pool winner, Canada, has a perfect 5-0 record. The European Pool winner, Finland, has a 4-0-1 record with a tie coming against Sweden during the round robin.

Team Canada and Team Finland met once earlier this year in a major senior international competition, a 5-4 overtime win for Team Canada in the quarterfinals of the 2004 World Hockey Championship.

Canada has now advanced to the finals of all six prior World Cup of Hockey/Canada Cup tournaments. They also advanced to the finals in four of the last five major senior international tournaments (World Cup of Hockey/Canada Cup, Olympics, World Championships), including each of the last three (2003 World Championship, 2004 World Championship, World Cup of Hockey 2004).

The championship game will be shown LIVE on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 in Canada on CBC / SRC at 7:00 pm (ET) / 4:00 pm (PT), and in the USA on ESPN.
